Jamie Foxx is opening up about his April 2023 medical emergency<\/a>. In his new Netflix comedy special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was\u2026<\/em>, released Dec. 10, the Academy Award winner, 56, grew emotional as he revealed that he suffered \u201ca brain bleed that led to a stroke\u201d that left him fighting for his life in a hospital and unable to remember a 20-day period<\/a> from April to May 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease, Lord, let me get through this,\u201d the actor said as he discussed his \u201cmystery illness.\u201d He went on to state that while on the Atlanta set of his Netflix movie Back in Action<\/em> on April 11, 2023, he \u201cwas having a bad headache, and I asked my boy for Aspirin. I realized quickly that when you\u2019re in a medical emergency, your boys don\u2019t know what the f\u2013 to do. Before I could get the aspirin [clicks his fingers] I went out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fox, who was left fighting for his life in a hospital<\/a>, said he was unable to remember a 20-day period from April to May 2023. He \u201cwoke up\u201d on May 4 in a wheelchair and was told that his friends took him to a doctor in Atlanta who gave him a cortisone shot and then \u201csent me home.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat the f\u2013 is that?\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t know if you can do Yelps for doctors, but that\u2019s half a star.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still concerned for his health and fearing that something was wrong as the actor remained \u201clethargic,\u201d Foxx\u2019s younger sister Deidra Dixon<\/a> drove \u201caimlessly\u201d around Atlanta with the Django Unchained <\/em>star until she came across Piedmont Hospital. Foxx said his sister, who he described as \u201c4-foot-11 of nothing but pure love,\u201d didn\u2019t \u201cknow anything about Piedmont Hospital, but she had a hunch that some angels [were] in there.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
