Former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) has provided new details about his plans after leaving Congress and withdrawing from President-elect Donald Trump\u2019s nomination to be U.S. attorney general.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Turning Point USA founder and conservative all-star Charlie Kirk, the Florida Republican indicated that he planned to remain active politically.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo \u2014 so Matt, I now have to ask about just what your plans are, and it\u2019s OK if you have to punt on it because you might not know. It\u2019s important to know you resigned from this Congress, not the next Congress. Our audience is 100 percent behind Matt Gaetz, by the way. They are very, very upset that you were not able to get all the way to Attorney General. I have to ask, what is next for Matt Gaetz?\u201d Kirk asked during his talk show last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m still going to be in the fight, but it\u2019s going to be from a new perch. I do not intend to join the 119th Congress. There are a number of fantastic Floridians who\u2019ve stepped up to run for my seat, people who have inspired with their heroism, with their public service, and I\u2019m actually excited to see northwest Florida go to new heights and have great representation,\u201d Gaetz began.<\/p>\n
